School Timing:

The School Hours are from:

Morning Shift: 7.30a.m. to 12.30 p.m.
Day Shift: 11.00a.m. to 4.00p.m.

Fees:

Fees should be paid from April to March of every academic year and not beyond. No reduction is made for holidays or broken periods. Before the examinations all fees have to be cleared.

Fees should be paid between the 27th of the previous month and 7th of the current month, unless otherwise specified. Defaulters will be charged a fine of Rs. 20/- per day till the end of the month. Thereafter the name of the defaulter will be struck off the rolls and he/she may lose the right to re-admission. In case of re-admission the defaulter will have to pay a re-admission fee of Rs. 500/- together with all arrears and fines that are applicable. If a student does not return his/her library book within 14 days of the date of issue, he/she be charged a fine @ Rs. 5/- per day. Students absent without sanctioned leave will be fined @ Rs. 20/- per day.

Attendance and Vacations:

Boys/Girls who are absent from school must bring a letter from their parent stating the cause of their absence besides filling in the 'Leave Record' in the School Diary. In case of an illness exceeding 3 calendar days, a medical certificate must be attached to the letter concerned. These letters and certificates are to be given to the Principal. If required, the Principal may ask the Medical Officer of the school to verify whether or not the absentee student needed the sick leave applied for.

No leave of absence will be granted without a previous written application from the parents. Absence, on account of birthday, marriage-feasts and similar reasons, is discouraged.

Parents should inform the school authorities if their child is suffering from any serious illness, chronic ailment, physical handicap or sensory defect. In case of chicken pox, measles, mumps or any other such contagious disease, the parent is advised to maintain a quarantine period of 21 days before the child is sent back to school.

Students may not leave the school premises without the permission of the Principal. A boy /girl who is absent for more than 14 days without prior sanction of the Principal is liable to have his/her name struck off the school rolls.

To ensure regularity, medical appointments should be made on Thursdays or on any other school holidays. Should this not be possible and the appointment has to be made on a school day, prior permission must be taken from the Principal.

A list of holidays for the current year is printed in the school diary. All students are expected to attend school on the re-opening day after each vacation. Parents are requested not to take their children on vacation before the last school day preceding the vacation or to extend these vacations. Pupils who do not attend the first day of school after a vacation will be severely penalized and are liable to have their names struck off the rolls. If re-admitted, they must pay the Admission Fee again.

Uniforms:

Every student should develop good habits of dress and grooming. A student is expected to be in school uniform at school and at any activity conducted by the school. The pattern, colour, textile and fabric of the school uniform, available at Pratap Stores, 2, Shakespeare Sarani, Kolkata-700071 is as follows:

Girls:

Nursery to Class III - beige pinafore and striped blouse.
Class IV and above - beige divided skirt and striped blouse.
All Classes - beige socks with brown border, plain black ballerina shoes, White ribbon or hair band.

Boys:

Nursery to Class VI - beige half-pant and striped full-sleeve shirt.
All classes - beige socks with brown border, plain black Bata shoe.

All girls and boys of all classes - Tie, Badge/Lapel pin as per school's approved design.

Scholarship and Award:(money&gift)

The school grants need-based scholarships to deserving candidates in the higher classes. Such scholarships normally do not exceed 50% of the school fees and are valid for a period of one scholastic year only. In exceptional cases the Management offers need - based scholarships exceeding 50% of the school fees. If a student secures the first rank in class with a General Aggregate above 80% he/she is awarded a special Silver Medal for his/her commendable accomplishment.

Discipline:

Much emphasis is laid on the development of an inner discipline amongst the boys and the girls. They are encouraged to develop healthy personal and social habits: to be neat and tidy, to be punctual, to complete their homework on time and grow in the grace of self control. Teachers correct errant boys and girls with tender loving care. Corporal Punishment is disallowed in the school.

Our Transport Service:

Recognizing the need of the boys & girls living far away from school, Pretoria high intends running special school buses on a contract basis. Conveyance charges are reasonable and vary in accordance with distance. Full fees are charged for the holiday periods and the use of the bus as a one-way facility.

Pupils will be picked up from and dropped at certain accessible points enroute to school. A responsible person must escort the child at least 10 minutes before time. The bus fee must be paid directly to the school as per rate determined by the school. Should a parent wish to discontinue the use of the bus service the school and bus contractor must be informed in writing at least two months in advance.

Tests & Evaluation: (Assessment)

Four Units Tests are conducted in a year. In the lower classes the academic performance of the student is based on Classroom Assessments done on work sheets. Periodically, Comprehensive Progress Reports, with details of marks and grades, together with insights into the pupil's habits, attitudes and skills, are issued. The achievement level of each child in all disciplines of study and personal growth is considered at the time of promotion.

Withdrawals:

Notice of the withdrawal of a pupil must be given in writing to the principal at least two calendar months in advance or two months fees paid in lieu of notice. If the written notice given is less than two months, the fees due on the 1st of the next two months will be charged.
